- Created the system for statewide Health Care Navigators (2011-2015) that implemented the Affordable Care Act-(Obamacare )and trained 100 health care navigators from 23 organizations serving Maine
- Maine Jobs Council appointee 2005-2010
- Appointed by Maine State Legislature to the Interagency Review Panel 2010-2015- to explore the feasibility of using the Interstate system as energy corridor transmitting electricity in Maine
- Member of UMF Board of Visitors 2005-2012
- Married to Fran Fowler, two grown children Mattie and Joseph Fowler
- Retired in 2015 after 40 years at WMCA
